The Austrian Federal Economic Chamber - Representing the Interests of Business (CdH-Event June 2010)

On this occasion the trade delegates were guests of President Leitl of the Austrian Economic Chamber of Trade, Commerce and Industry, and were offered a first hand insight into the functioning of the chamber and its international network, by Mag. Georg Krauchenberg, AWO Regional Manager SEE.

The Chambers of Commerce were established by the Austrian legislative body to safeguard the interests of particular social and professional groups. The duties of the Chambers of Commerce are to represent the interests of their members (about 400.000), to  remain independent thereby strengthening their position in negotiations with the state and representatives of unions and management, to participate in the law making process in respect of both federal and provincial laws and regulations. The Goal of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber is to provide the best possible framework conditions for the conduct of business.

Advantage Austria (formerly Austrian Trade) is the largest provider of services in the export sector - with 66 trade delegations, 8 branch offices and 41 marketing offices.  The responsibility is to provide internal services for the entire organisational structure of the Chamber, the implementation of a key co-ordinating role in support of strategic planning.
