Visit of the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB)-Technische Services GmbH

On 4 November 2025 we visited the ÖBB-Technische Services GmbH where we had a tour of the railway vehicle light maintenance depot in Wien Matzleinsdorf.

The Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB)-Technische Services GmbH was founded in 2004 within the ÖBB Group and operates 22 locations in Austria and 3 locations in Europe with 4.000 employees in total.

The maintenance depot in Wien Matzleinsdorf is one of ÖBB’s largest maintenance depots with approximately 1.000 employees. The heart of the facility is a 240 metre long maintenance workshop in which many types of railway rolling stock (vehicles), from the Taurus locomotive to the high-speed ICE trainsets, are serviced. Not only vehicles of the ÖBB, but also those of other railway companies (e.g. Deutsche Bahn) are serviced here.
